There are various minorities in China and the biggest one here in the province of Guizhou is the Miao minority. They've got their villages in the mountains and there are a few famous ones around Kaili.
Kali is a short bullet train ride from Guiyang and from there you need to take a van, taxi or a bus. The village we're going to, is accessible over a bumpy and curvy road and it takes us nearly 90 minutes to get there. The views are spectacular though. Unfortunately we don't have the time to stop along the road to take photos. Even if we had the time, it would be sheer impossible to stop, because the road is narrow and there's almost no space to park the car.
We arrive at a car park and have to go up some stairs to a massive square. There are people in their traditional dress welcoming all the tourists by playing music, a rather monotone tune that makes you sleepy if you listen to it for too long, and by moving slightly left and right.
There is an entrance fee of roughly ten pounds and you can take a bus for two pounds return to the village. The ride is quite short, but it's better and less dangerous than walking.
Once in the village, you see traditional wooden houses, many shops, restaurants, hotels, street kitchens, etc. There's a river going through the village and various bridges linking the two banks.
