This is something you see in China nearly every day. Every time a shop or restaurant opens, there is a big show. I have witnessed many of them so far. This here is the first ever opening I witnessed. I had seen the decoration around lunchtime while i was cycling to my favourite restaurant, and in the evening coming from the supermarket I bumped into the opening show.
As you can see from the photos, there are many flowers outside the entrance of the restaurant. There are also many balloons and various other articles. Two men dressed as tigers dance to the rhythm of the musicians quite a long time. When the dancing is over, you can enjoy a great firework display.
Restaurants offer meals at a discounted, symbolic price, that can be as little as 1 GBP and often give you a drink for free. Supermarkets and other shops have discounts on selected articles and often prize draws and various activities in which you can win prizes. When the YongHui supermarket and mall opened just under my building, the celebrations lasted several days. They had bands, artists, fireworks, dancers and much more.
Here are some videos (May not show and/or play on iPads and iPhones)
